Sports Regulations
Effective season 2023
Limited test Moto3/Moto2.
Moto3 and Moto2 tier teams have received requests to reduce the number of days allowed for private testing, mainly due to the increased number of events on the calendar.
Effective from the 2023 season, testing will be restricted to:
• Official test 1 x 3 days Before the start of the season. (Constant)
• Add 4 days of private testing. (Currently 7 days).
There will be no limit on testing with rookie drivers from the final event of the season to November 30.
The committee agreed to provide an exception for Moto2-class teams to use machines supplied by a chassis builder that had not achieved six concessions in the previous two years. Such teams will be classified as “Concession Teams” following the same process as in MotoGP.
Concession points based on race results:
• First Place = 3 Concession Points
• Second place = 2 Concession points
• Third place = 1 Concession point
Such Concession Groups are allowed to:
• Official test 1 x 3 days before the start of the season
• Extra 7 days of private inspection.
Moto2 Class Age Limit
From 2023, the minimum age limit for all GP Classes (Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP) will be 18 years old.
An exception has been made for Rookies and/or Junior GP winners who are allowed to participate in Moto3 when they are 16 (2023) or 17 (2024).
The exception will now also apply to winners of the European Moto2 Championship, allowing them to enter the Moto2 World Championship at 17 (2023).
Technical regulations
INSTANT EFFECTS
Handlebar handlebars – Moto3 and Moto2 types
Recently, it has been noticed that some Moto3 teams have installed extended handlebar grips. The aim is to allow their riders to slide their hands further towards the forks to try to improve the aerodynamics of the rider’s body along the straight line.
This action is considered extremely dangerous because the rider is less likely to control the motorcycle when in this position.
Accordingly, with immediate effect, the maximum allowed overall length of the handlebars in Moto3 and Moto2 is 130mm.
The handlebar grip must be fitted at the end of the handlebar, with the only exception being the handlebar end plug and/or the brake lever guard attachment.
EFFECTIVE 2023
Moto3 chassis cost
The price of a complete rolling chassis (requires only engine, ECU/Datalogger, transponder and radio data transmitter/receiver to work and subject to the regulations of the organizer), will be limited to €87,000 (excluding VAT and shipping).
This is just a slight increase from the current price of €85,000.
Teams looking to move machines between 2022 and 2023 can purchase a crash detection/alert update kit. (Unified IMU + Unified Power Module + Wiring Harness) for the price of 2,000 €. (not include VAT).
Moto3 and Moto2 . riding altitude device
Any device that adjusts or adjusts the static height of the motorcycle while the motorcycle is in motion is prohibited. This ban also now applies to devices that only work once at the start of the race (i.e., hole-punch devices).
