In a report from Famitsu, the publication revealed that Monster Hunter Rise is the best-selling Nintendo Switch title in Japan in 2021. The game has sold an estimated 2,350,693 units between its initial release on March 26, 2021, and December 26, 2021. These figures only include sales from within Japan and do not include total worldwide sales, as Monster Hunter Rise has surpassed 7.5 million units sold worldwide in October 2021. Also, outside Monster Hunter Rise was the best-selling title for the Nintendo Switch in Japan, it was also the most downloaded. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Monster Hunter Rise proved to be a very successful title for Capcom. It passed Street Fighter II is Capcom’s best-selling single-platform title. The developer also announced plans to release paid DLC for Monster Hunter Rise, titled Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, during the September 2021 Nintendo Direct. The expansion will feature a new player center, along with brand new monsters. Also, some monsters from before Monster Hunter The title will appear in the expansion. Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will release in the summer of 2022.
In addition, Capcom announced in February 2021 that Monster Hunter Rise will get a PC release. The PC version of the game is coming with lots of updates. It will be mostly catching up to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
