Microsoft announces performance improvements for Teams


The company has streamlined its platform, making it easier for meetings to navigate and cutting down on wait times for content to load.

With Microsoft focusing exclusively on interactive response times and improving overall performance for Team users, the company announced several upgrades to Teams that will streamline the experience of using the platform. Reduce latency and load times

So now when platform users move their mouse over the chat list, latency has been reduced by 11.4% and scrolling through channel list has improved by 12.1%. In addition, users who click on the compose message box will see a boost, as the screen now loads 63% faster, allowing users to immediately start composing messages without waiting.

Now, page load times are also running more efficiently, with Microsoft touting the following upgrades:

  • Time to switch to channels and open chat windows were both improved by 25%
  • Subject conversions in the activity feed improved by 17.4%
  • Conversion between chat threads has improved by 3.1%

Although this may not seem important at first glance, for those in work remotely settings, the time it takes for items in the program to load increases significantly over time.

More mobility and less delay in meetings

For users using Teams for multiple meetings per day or week, there will be noticeable improvements in reduced latency and faster button response times in the meeting screen. Response time for people clicking the mute and unmute buttons is improved by 16%, and accessing the ‘Join Before Meeting’ screen is now 9% faster.

Furthermore, on the list of performance upgrades is opening the call or meeting window, which increases response speed by 4.5%. The ability to switch to the chat screen improved 13%, to the activity feed improved 18.7% and to the channel improved 20%.
