Mercedes-Benz EQS450+ 2022 review in Malaysia – at OTR RM699k, is this the best EV on sale right now?


Launched in Malaysia in July this year, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ is priced at RM698,888 on the road without insurance, including incentives in the form of import duty exemptions and excise tax exemptions for trams in Malaysia.

Here, the EQS 450+ is the only variant currently available for the German brand’s flagship electric model in the country and offers a lithium-ion battery rated at 107 usable battery capacity, 8 kWh or total capacity of 120 kWh.

With WLTP-rated energy consumption as low as 15.7 kWh per 100 km, the EQS performs a maximum range of 782 km on a single charge. The engine is powered by a single-wheel drive, water-cooled rear-wheel drive that produces 333 hp and 565 Nm of torque, allowing the 2.48-ton EV to hit the road with uplift. 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds on the way to first place. Inside, the EQS is just as distinctive as the outside, with the interior featuring the MBUX Super Monitor consisting of three separate screens across its 141 cm width. The instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches, as does the OLED touchscreen for the front passenger, while the central 17.7-inch OLED touchscreen is even larger. The visual flair even comes with a 64-color ambient lighting system.

Mobile device integration is supported by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as part of the setup MBUX comes with a range of Mercedes me connect services, OTA update support, augmented reality for navigation, etc. Yes a fingerprint scanner for the driver to record their records.
