Let’s start with a quick recap of the game itself, which will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2023.
Meet Your Maker is a new first-person raid and building game set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future. Gameplay revolves around the creation and infiltration of independent levels known as Outposts, as players seek to protect or steal the world’s most valuable remaining resource from each other.
The building focuses on a strategic, block-based design where players will draw from a highly customizable toolbox of traps and sentries to maneuver deadly maze-like Outposts. Raid players, on the other hand, will be suitable for methodical, lightning-fast combat as they enter the game and try to outdo other players’ creations.
The experience is truly driven by user-generated content, and every Outpost in the game is designed by the player, for the player.
While Meet Your Maker’s unique gameplay takes center stage at first glance, similar to Behaviour’s multiplayer horror title Dead by Daylight, there’s also a rich mythology waiting to be discovered.

Joe Dermo, Meet Your Maker’s lead story designer, explains: “Humanity has been facing extinction since a genetic disease raged across the globe hundreds of years ago. “Desperate nations waged wars for resources, riots broke out, and societies collapsed. However, humanity does not roll over and die.
“There was an age when a number of talented world leaders proposed Sanctuaries — cutting-edge research labs around the world that could work independently and collaboratively on initiatives to save the world. . One such initiative is the Chimera Project, which will create hybrids by uninterrupted distillation of genetic material through people who have demonstrated resistance to the disease.
“After hundreds of years, the project continues towards its goal, even though Chimera’s development has taken an unexpected path…”.
Protect what’s yours, take all you can
A harvester loads genetic material into a shipping station for transport back to the Sanctuary.
Players take on the role of a Guardian, a clone tasked with finding the remaining undamaged genetic material and protecting or stealing it. You are the last hope to complete Project Chimera – but gathering this coveted resource won’t be easy.
Joe continued: “Unbroken genetic material is extremely rare due to the disease raging around the world, but it is what is needed to complete Project Chimera and hopefully cure it. “As the supply dwindled, the Sanctuaries led by Chimera began to scramble for it.”
The war in question takes place in Outposts built by the player to extract genetic material. The heart of each Outpost is its extract block, which fills up boxes of precious resources.
Builders will need to harness their most insidious impulses, crafting a series of traps and monstrous bodyguards designed to lure, outwit, and rip off trespassing players. Raid players will need sharp reflexes, predictability, and tenacity to not only fight their way to the squeeze block and steal its box, but also be able to escape with it in hand.
Ash Pannell, Creative Director of the game shared: “The scarcity of genetic material really drives the two sides of the game in Meet Your Maker. “Making the building blocks of life the narrative driving concept enhances profitability. It allows us to create game themes that are ethically gray, asking the question, ‘What is humanity? The physical things we’re made of – or something more? ‘”

Talk to any of Sanctuary’s five Advisors, your only allies in an unforgiving world.
Between build and raid sessions, players will return to Sanctuary, their hub and base of operations. In addition to Chimera, Sanctuary has five Advisors; clone the base operators.
Progress is achieved by providing both them and the Chimera with genetic material to unlock new traps, guards, suits, weapons, perks, and even lore for those wishing to peel them off. separate the layers of this dying world.
