Mazda 2 2023 brings a new look, increases prices


Mazda Australia confirmed pricing and some initial specs for its update 2 range before orders open in June of this year and deliveries start the following month.

Highlights of this upgrade including a redesigned front bumper and new body-color or black grille. Hatchback variants, as well as the flagship GT sedan, also get a redesigned rear bumper.

There’s also a color accent on the front grille and rear bumper, similar to what’s currently available on the CX-5 Touring Active and GT SP variants.

The updated Mazda 2 may be available in nine exterior paint colors, including Aero Metallic Gray and the new Airstream Blue metallic.

Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Gray Metallic and Polymetal Gray Metallic for an additional $595.

The entry-level Pure and Pure SP variants are available with panel trim finishes in Pure White, Mirror Black, or Mint, depending on the exterior paint color. Pure SP also has black film on the roof.

Inside, the Evolve and GT variants get a black interior with red accents on the seat stitching and air vent trim.

The top GT also has partially leather seats, a red and black dashboard, aviation-inspired multi-spoke alloy wheels and polished dual exhaust tips.

All models aside from the entry-level Pure are now equipped with a shark fin antenna, rather than a traditional antenna.

No notes have been made on mechanical changes. The Mazda 2 is currently offered exclusively in Australia with a 1.5 liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 82kW power and 144Nm torque, and a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

It’s unclear how long the current Mazda 2 will last.

Although it was first introduced in 2014, it is not the oldest member of the Mazda lineup. will Mazda6was launched locally in late 2012.

The Mazda 2 has received an upgrade, with the company slashing the lineup and adding more safety equipment as well as a higher base price.
