Mar-a-Lago Hearing FBI Search Orders
US Judge Bruce Reinhart released on Thursday certain court documents related to the FBI’s search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida home at Mar-a-Lago.
The newly released filings provide more specific details on potential violations being investigated by the Justice Department – describing the offenses as “knowingly withholding national defense information” as well as “withholding or erasing government records” and “obstructing federal investigations. “
In the filing, prosecutors also argued that the search warrant paperwork prior to last Monday’s Mar-a-Lago search should be kept confidential, “because of the integrity of the ongoing investigation.” take place may be compromised and the evidence may be destroyed.”
The records include the Justice Department’s motion to seal the subpoena, the order requesting that seal, and the criminal cover sheet.
The cover also states that the Department of Justice has applied to search Mar-a-Lago, believing it can both find evidence of these crimes and recover illegally possessed items.
Note: This is not an affidavit of a search warrant, will include more details. The judge is expected to hear more information from the Justice Department next week about how investigators want to keep secret the document describing the steps and methods of their investigation that led to the search warrant.
