A man has been shot dead at a nude beach in France after he was accused of shouting insults at people and performing sex acts.

The 46-year-old was shot down at La Mama beach in the Grand parc de Miribel-Jonage on the outskirts of Lyon at 10:30 a.m. local time on Saturday.

A man, 76, shot him after he shouted insults at other beachgoers and began to indulge himself while staring at a woman, French police said.

The two men argued and the elderly naked man pulled out a shotgun and fired “at least three times”, one of which hit the other man in the chest.

The gunman is believed to be an avid hunter with a gun license, but it was not immediately clear why he brought his weapon to the beach, France3 later reported.

According to the French broadcaster, his license does not allow him the freedom to carry weapons around.

Officers are investigating the incident and have launched an investigation into the murder.

The victim is believed to live in Lyon and took a short trip to the beach on Saturday.
