Madrimov-Soro 2 has been added to the Chisora-Pulev tag
The theme of the July 9 rematch at The O2 Arena continued after it was announced that Israel Madrimov (8-0, 6 KOs) and Michel Soro (35-3-1, 24 KOs) would be running again.
Final elimination for WBA Super Welterweight title positions in support of Main Events of Dereck Chisora-Kubrat Pulev.
Madrimov and Soro met last December with a ninth round TKO, the official result for the unbeaten Uzbekistan team. However, three months ago, the WBA requested a rematch due to the controversy surrounding the match’s conclusion.
Madrimov, who had initially injured Soro, then hit a number of shots after the 9th half ended and referee Salvador Salva stopped the game. The Spaniard insists he does not hear the bell ringing much in the face of the opposition of Soro’s team. After a few minutes of deliberation, officials decided victory for Madrimov.
“After the first game, I told my team immediately, if the game ends with a rematch, I’m ready to do it,” Madrimov said in a press release.
“I don’t want any questions left unanswered. Let the best man win this time honorably and decisively. We are having a good camp and will be ready on July 9.”
“Madrimov is a great fighter and an exemplary sportsman, a very respectable man,” Soro said. “This war is decisive for each of us, we are about to enter it. I will be much stronger than the first match, I have no right to be defeated, I will give it all, and I will win.”
