With the adoption of EVs in the future, many people still have range and charge worry. Will the place I go to have a charger? Will it give me enough juice to go back home? These are questions a lot of potential electric vehicle owners are asking. The current, Lucid will be able to provide some guarantees Airline ownerthanks to a new home charger that can provide up to 80 miles per hour range when plugged in.
The company has released a new charger as part of its new line of Lucid car accessories. Called the Flexible Connected Home Charging Station, it promises big: uses AC charging and is capable of maximum support 19.2 kWh, it can provide range up to 80 miles per hour. So fastthan many chargers currently on the market. For comparison, that’s much faster than Tesla’s Home ChargerWhile we should note, Tesla has previously offered a home charger that matches Lucid’s 19.2 kWh rate, but it’s not available for purchase currently. Today, the fastest home Tesla charger you can buy costs up to 11.5 kWh.
For comparison, Ford’s ChargeStation Pro for F-150 Lightning To be can only add range up to 30 miles per hour.
The flexible connected home charging station is also well connected. It supports two-way charging and has built-in wifi to support over-the-air updates. It retails for $1,200, slightly cheaper than Ford’s charger ($1,310) but more expensive than Tesla’s ($400).
Lucid also dropped a few extra accessories for his EV. There’s a $2,000 covered aircraft carrier called the Lucid Air Cargo Capsule that can hold 11.47 cubic feet of stuff; roof rails cost $500 and can support up to 165 lbs of rack to hold your bike, kayak, or other gear; and $250 all-weatherproof carpet. And if you’re worried about those roof accessories affecting your range, Lucid said they have been aerodynamically designed for low drag. (But you’ll probably notice a drop in range, naturally.)
