After a dramatic Friday night with swirling emotions in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) when technology should have been used to clearly declare no ball – the television referee needs to be empowered – Sunday’s match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) promises to be a more mellow relationship.

LSG has eight points from seven games while a struggling Mumbai Indian is now the first IPL team to lose its first seven games.

Wankhede Stadium’s friendly surface and short boundaries promise a running party. Dew is not expected to be a major factor in this night’s game.

Left-handed Quinton de Kock (215 runs at SR 134.37) was among the runs. Marcus Stoinis was always dangerous, so was Deepak Hooda.

Vibrant swimmer Avesh Khan, steadfast Jason Holder and nimble swinger, Ravi Bishnoi, boosted LSG’s attack power.

MI has been hurt by Rohit Sharma’s poor form. And the highly valued Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard were largely wrong.

Suryakumar Yadav pulled his weight, the interesting Dewald Brevis was revealed and Tilak Verma kept his promise but MI was short of time.

Influencer Jasionary Bumrah lacked a consistent pacing partner with an incision to generate pressure from both ends. Daniel Sams has shown brilliance.

MI looking for redemption while LSG will shoot for points this Sunday.
