LRT3 Shah Alam Line is scheduled to open in March 2025
Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today that the LRT3 or Shah Alam LRT line will be opened on March 1, 2025, which is 19 months from now. This is later than the February 2024 mentioned earlier.
He made the announcement on his Facebook page in a post about visiting the Johan Setia depot of the LRT3 line to receive updates on the project’s progress. According to Loke, the line is now 86% complete.
Shah Alam LRT Line is the third LRT for Klang Valley after Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT Line and Kelana Jaya LRT Line. The 37.8 km Shah Alam LRT will have 20 stations connecting Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang.
There are two transfer stations – Bandar Utama to change to Kajang MRT Line and Glenmarie to change to Kelana Jaya LRT Line.
When the LRT3 project was first announced in 2016, there were 26 stations planned, but a revision in 2018 saw the removal of Persiaran Hishamuddin, Bandar Botanik, Bukit Raja, Raja Muda stations , Temasya and Tropicana.
The new route will be served by three-car trains provided by China’s CRRC Corp.
