Describe Kaito files as a small file Yakuza The story can feel superfluous, given that Judgment lost heavily inspired by its predecessor. But it includes some content Yakuza fans can miss in Judgement series. While the same procedural crime movie elements still appear in this spin-off, Kaito’s connection to the underworld and the yakuza is central. As a result, this DLC feels more personal, as it complements Kaito’s background. However, this could be detrimental to those who may be exhausted from the series.
The Kaito file begins with a bang. The player is immediately introduced to the crux of the story, which is to locate a woman who is believed to be dead. Cases like these are equivalent of course for Judgement the series and the more unbelievable elements of the story make it easier for it to be swallowed up. Kaito takes over the case and investigates the disappearance and suicide of Mikiko Natsume. The DLC immediately hints at the player about their past relationships and Kaito’s closeness to her. At moments in the DLC story, the player is given a look back at his painful past and how his relationship with the yakuza ultimately strained his relationship with Mikiko. It makes for a predictable, but sad, story.
That’s what fans can expect. That doesn’t make it bad. The story is engaging when it should be, and Kaito’s relationship with his son Mikiko is lovable. He acts as a mentor for Jun, who is young and inexperienced compared to Jun, as he actually faints after being pulled in by a knife during their first interaction. But it does serve the overall tone of the story well and keeps the story light when needed. Naturally, the DLC has some twists and turns that will put players in their seats as they unravel the real mystery surrounding Mikiko’s disappearance and how tangled the strings around it really are. any.
The only real problem is that the Kaito Files are more like. Yes, the gameplay introduces some deviations. Kaito uses a different method to find clues with his “primordial instinct”. I mean this is very literally true, as the player uses his “Primary Ears” and “Primary Eyes” in the investigative elements of the game. But players will go through the same motion to solve the mystery for the most part. The twists and turns can be shocking at first, but are predictable if you think about them for too long. Several different organizations are active, with each attempting to cover up some related to Mikiko’s disappearance. Another episode I could almost smell was a mile away, and its execution wasn’t as efficient as I expected. It made me feel a little resentful towards this experience. I can’t be more specific, as one leads to the other in terms of damage.
But in terms of combat, that’s exactly what I expected when playing a character like Kaito. Unlike Yagami, Kaito unleashes brutal punches with the same strength as the former protagonist of the Yakuza series, Kazuma Kiryu. He has two different fighting styles, with one allowing the player to deal massive amounts of damage. The other relies on fending off enemy attacks to make it effective, but performs well enough at softening bosses’ hits. This is probably the most interesting aspect for me of the DLC. While I enjoy my time with Yagami in Judgment lostMy main scenario, I like when a man can deliver a vicious punch.
Overall, the Kaito files are more similar. Those looking for something different from the main scenario can be pleased, as Kaito has enough variation in his gameplay to set him apart from Yagami. But if you’re looking for something more engaging or different from other Ryu Ga Gotoku stories, you’ll likely be a bit disappointed. That’s not to say the Kaito Files aren’t worth your time. It’s a wonderful, mouth-watering experience that’s sure to fill in short stories like Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Yakuza Kiwami 2 left in the hearts of fans of the series.
