The PGA Tour will head south this week for the 2023 Mexico Open in Vidanta. Headed by defending champion and reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm, the Mexican Open proved in its first edition to be a launch pad for some of the game’s elite players.
Just last season, Rahm went to Mexico in a mediocre match before winning par 71. Making his name in 24 tournaments since then, the world No. 1 has racked up seven wins worldwide. and 11 finishes in the top 5 starting with his win in Mexico. Riding across the golf world last year, Rahm aims to do the same this week in Vidanta as one of only three top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings to compete.
Going into the final round on Sunday, Rahm is in a key position to repeat champion after 61 points in Round 3 on Saturday put him in the standings. However, if he wants to claim his fifth win of the year, he will once again have to face Tony Finau, who is two shots ahead with a 19 under.
