The holiday season may be in full swing, but that doesn’t stop what is arguably one of the most anticipated events of the golfing year. while not mastersThe PGA Championship or any of the four major championships, the 2022 Hero World Challenge were lined up to see the appointment before Tiger Woods withdrawal on mondaywith plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
When he is no longer playing, Woods is sure to make the golf world talk. Present around the Albany field throughout the week, the 46-year-old coach will play the role of hosting the tournament that brings together 20 of the best players in the world. All 20 players make it to the top 35 of the Official World Golf Ranking with six of the top 10 going to compete. Highlighted by world No. 2 Scottie Scheffler and recent DP World Tour Championship winner Jon Rahm, the collective class of the field does more than compensate for the small group of players.
Viktor Hovland held the title of defending champion when Norway was on fire this time last year. A three-time champion in just five starts, Hovland rose to world number three in part thanks to his play at The Bahamas. Tony Finau, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele are among those who will look to follow in Hovland’s footsteps and head into the winter after a triumphant conquest.
