Lexus won’t offer yoke and wire steering when it launches RZ450e EV in the US

It won’t be called One Motion Grip, or OMG, as in Europe, where the system is scheduled to launch as an option in the 2025 model year.

Lexus isn’t the first automaker to experiment with a new steering system in an electric vehicle. The Lexus system differs from Tesla’s in that it can only rotate 150 degrees before locking.

Patience seems to be the right approach when it comes to reinventing the wheel.

“Right now, we’re enjoying an extra time to really tweak the system,” says Higashiyama. “Steering is a very important part of the car.”
