The reduction of the Besraya and LEKAS highway tolls will come into effect from 12:01 a.m. January 1, 2023, public works minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced, according to Bernama.
The report states, a reduction of up to 15 sen for Class 1 vehicles passing through Loke Yew and Mines (North and South) toll stations on the Besraya Expressway. Meanwhile, the toll rate for Class 1 vehicles on the LEKAS expressway has been reduced from 0.1811 sen per kilometer to 0.1666 sen per kilometer for the closed toll collection system, while the toll fee is in the toll collection system. Open for Ampangan toll station remains unchanged.
This means that the new fee effective from midnight tonight will be RM1.85 for Class 1 vehicles at any Besraya highway toll station, while motorists using the LEKAS motorway will be charged RM7.80 in each direction.
The current toll rate is RM2.00 for Class 1 vehicles in each direction on the Besraya Expressway and RM8.30 for Class 1 vehicles on the entire LEKAS expressway.
“Through restructuring [of toll rates] for these two highways, the government could save an estimated RM1.978 billion in compensation allocation during the concession period and the allocation could be diverted to meet other basic needs of the Malaysian people. ,” said Nanta.
