Monkey Island Creator’s role-playing game “Zelda Meets Diablo Meets Thimbleweed Park” looks very interesting
Ron Gilbert, the man in the background Monkey island series, has started sharing some information about its upcoming RPG adventure game, and it looks like a fun classic (thanks, Time extension).
This as-yet-untitled project is “Best described as Classic Zelda meeting Diablo meeting Thimbleweed Park” according to Toybox website is terrible – a trio we never imagined together, but still a combination that sounds quite appealing.
This is expected to come to us later this year, although the site warns that things could be pushed back to 2025 – “this is gamedev after all”, it notes .
Gilbert shared updates on the game’s development on his page mastodon since the beginning of this year, with screenshots and tidbits of information that have us increasingly excited to see this mash-up of inspiration in action. You can see some snapshots below.
To be clear, there’s no confirmation that this is coming to Switch – come on, it doesn’t even have a title at the time of writing – but we’re skeptical.
Just last week, Gilbert announced Elissa Black (who previously worked for Freeport’s sword, Craft Town, antibacterial medicine And Objects in space) joined the unnamed RPG project as a quest designer.
We’ll be watching for more information on this issue in the coming months.
