La Crete aims to keep Rachel Alexandra a stake in the family


Stonestreet Stables and coach Steve Asmussen will have a special $300,000 repeat opportunity Rachel Alexandra Stakes presented by Fasig-Tipton (G2) on February 19 at Fair Grounds & Slots. Asmussen has won Rachel Alexandra six times, the first with Summer (2005), followed by Attractive Zophie (2007), Echoes of War (2009), Can’t touch (2014), Limited (2020), and last year with Claire. Both Summerly and Untapable won the Kentucky Oaks. The race was held under the name Silverbulletday Stakes from 2001-10.

Registration for

1/16-mile Rachel Alexandra, named for 2009’s Horse of the Year, who trained by Asmussen for Stonestreet, will provide qualifying Oaks scores on a 50-20-10-5 scale for four finish first.
