Kimari Set for Madison Repeat in First Season Score

“She gave me a beautiful birthday present today, which is great,” said Ward, who turns 54 on Thursday. “We’re going to use this race to get into Madison, which she won last year. She’s going back to Kentucky on Sunday.”

Bred in Kentucky by China Horse Club International in addition to the 3rd prize winning Cozze Up Lady mare, Kimari was purchased by Eaton on behalf of Ten Broeck Farm for $152,000 from Bluewater Sales’ batch for the July Sale. Fasig-Tipton’s pick of the year in Kentucky in 2018. She has twice made the pond trip to compete at Royal Ascot. During her time abroad, she performed very well against European opponents, placing second at Queen Mary Stakes (G2) with 2nd place and second at Commonwealth Cup (G1) with 2nd place. 3rd place. Her domestic wins include Bolton Landing Stakes, Indian Summer Stakes, Purple Martin Stakes, and Spring Fever Stakes. She set a 7-2-1 record from 12 starts, with earnings of $801,777.
Ward also has the winning Coolmore ‘Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1T) connection Golden Palace prepare to start in Shakertown Stakes (G2T) on the same card April 9 in Keeneland. He added the Stonestreet Stables 2021 Commonwealth Cup winner Campanelle and their Breeders ‘Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2T) winners Twilight Sparkle will target the listed stake at the spring meeting as a premise to hopefully join his traditional Royal Ascot raid team in June.
