KTM RC 8C Racing Prototype
KTM unveiled their RC 8C racing prototype over 12 months ago and we can now confirm that 24 of these special race-only bikes are coming to Australia and New Zealand this November. The RC 8C will sell for $56,990 in Australia and $61,999 in New Zealand. Online orders will be taken from midday, Wednesday, October 19.
Amachine is co-developed with Krämer Motorcycles and is dedicated to performance tracking. The RC 8C boasts some impressive numbers, including a dry weight of 140 kg, a power output of 128 hp matched with race-specific parts and a custom chassis.
The engine is the same as the 890 Duke R but with a different intake and engine management system. With the benefit of being a production engine, this means that maintenance, parts availability, and tuning can all be done with relative ease compared to most race machines. specialized.
The engine will generate 101 Nm of torque from the 889 cc LC8c engine and benefit from a special airbox and Twin Air filter, while incorporating an air intake on the upper crankcase.
Krämer Motorcycles is responsible for the construction of a stainless steel racing exhaust, combined with a titanium Akrapovič silencer with a carbon end cap. There will be an optional 98 dBA muffler that can be purchased separately for those with more stringent local regulations.
The KTM RC 8C will also run a complete factory AIM MXS 1.2 RACE control panel and data logger, including built-in GPS, with a 5-inch TFT display that also includes data logging and is fully programmable about what can be displayed, including ECU settings engine statistics and activity lap information. Recorded data can also be analyzed in AIM RaceStudio at no additional cost.
On the chassis side of things is a dedicated racing frame, one with an adjustable 66.7° steering angle and 98.6 mm trail, with the bike having a 1400 mm wheelbase.
Suspension is WP, with a fully adjustable Apex Pro 7543 closed cartridge fork, plus an adjustable Apex Pro 7117 steering damper, the same unit operated by WP-approved racing teams. support.
At the rear are WP Apex Pro 7746 shocks with preload adjusters and high and low compression and rebound settings, while Dymag UP7X forged aluminum wheels are run, measuring 3.50 x 17 front and 6 .00 x 17 at the rear, wrapped in Pirelli Superbike Racing stains. Standard accessories are 120/70 – 17 front and 180/60 – 17 rear, however rear can also be used 200/55.
Brembo Stylema brake calipers are mated to a 290 mm fully-floating aluminum rotor at the front, with a 230 mm unit at the rear and two-piston Brembo brake calipers. Controlling the front brakes is a Brembo 19RCS Corsa Corta radial master cylinder, with a MotoGP-inspired design that includes three settings – Normal, Sport and Race.
The styling is based on the RC16 racer, featuring KTM’s iconic styling, focusing on easy mounting and dismounting, ideal for work on the track, as well as built-in crash protection for high-risk areas. the highest risk when crossing the limit at the track.
This includes quick-release GRP body panels, with carbon fiber front fenders that include a quick-change system, and an RC16-style spoiler for high-speed stability.
Integrated crash protection includes crash pads on the frame, fork and swingarm, as well as on both sides of the 16 L fuel tank integrated into the seat. As a result, the tank also functions as the rear subframe and seat, and includes a clickable fuel line connector for easy drainage.
In terms of rider ergonomics, there are CNC-machined footrests that can be adjusted horizontally 66 mm in three steps and run interchangeable pins. An eccentric subframe also allows for two seat heights, along with ride height adjustment via WP shock absorber length adjustment.
The adjustable CNC-machined handlebar clamp includes laser-engraved markings for ease of positioning and features 30 degrees of adjustment, with 25 mm of height and 30 mm of adjustable width.
The adjustable headstock offers a degree of adjustment in each direction in half-degree increments, while the fork offset can be adjusted between 26 and 28 mm.
