We have no interest in starting another company. We were just looking for something fun to build on, and I had the idea to pay homage to the game that inspired the company and changed our lives.”

Adventures in the Colossal is considered one of the most influential games of all time, not only because of its form but also its content. It was one of the first “dungeon crawl” games, as well as one of the first in the adventure game genre.

Books by Matt Baron Dungeons and Desktops: A History of PC Role Playing Games says that the game has facilitated “creating a virtual world and the means to explore it,” which is a pretty big deal since that’s all games now. Kentucky Route Zero went as far as to get the whole plot point and set it up as an homage to the classic game.

Aside from the success of the developers’ initial release, they went on to put out classics like King’s Quest, Appropriate entertainment for Larryand Phantasmagoriaand even worked with Valve publish original Half-life game.
