Junkyard Gems: 2003 BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster

BMW Z4 is now in its 21st model year34 years later the first Z Series cars built. I used to saw Z3s being thrown away for a few years now, during my trip through the cemeteriesBut its E85 successor seems to have held its value well enough to repair when it was bent or broken… until now. This is the first year E85 Z4, found in a car graveyard in Northern California.

Just like the Z3’s frame is derived from the ‘s frame E36 3-Seriesthe first Z4 based on the successor to the E36, E46.

American Z4 shoppers in 2003 had two choices of inline-six engines: a 2.5-liter with 184 hp and a 3.0-liter with 225 hp.

This car has a 2.5 liter engine. The MSRP of this car is $33,100, or about $54,804 in 2023.

The interior has been scoured by junkyard shoppers, but the pedal count tells us it comes with a 5-speed automatic rather than a basic 5-speed manual ( 3.0i comes with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard equipment).

Z4 Coupé was not available until the 2006 model year, so it was a must-have convertible for all Z4 buyers while the vehicle was new.

It looks like this car suffered an unfortunate incident of scratching the railing, followed by an ineffective repair involving fillers and body tape.

There will be more Z4s at the scrap yard soon, and they’ll be picking up more quickly as they become more popular.

Driving through puddles has never been so fun. Advertise the German market more artistic.

0 mph has never looked so fast.
