Joe Joyce Vs Joseph Parker: Results, Live Updates, Highlights

Joe Joyce beats Joseph Parker for interim WBO heavyweight title

Joe Joyce is a danger to the division. It’s hard to predict exactly when his title shot will arrive, but, when it does, he’ll turn it into a fight. Joseph Parker stopped walking for the first time in his career. Before injury time, Joyce had all three scorecards drawn after another nonstop performance. After that performance, the toughest test for ‘The Juggernaut’ might be finding an opponent.

Round 11 – Joe Joyce wins by knockout!

UNbelievable – Joyce beat Parker hard. The New Zealander went straight into a left hook and tripped before falling. The referee gave him a chance to count but he failed to do so. Joe Joyce won by knockout in the eleventh round. Huge credit to both men – a back-to-back fight with very few setbacks.

Round 10

A back start for the round. Both show impressive tempo when considering punches. Parker seems to be bothering him now. Jabs traded and didn’t have much to report except both have legendary chins. Parker landed a few big levers just before the bell in the most eye-catching act of the round. Probably enough to convince the judges to give it their way.

Round 9

As sure as day after night, Joyce reappeared. It’s a scene where it’s hard to be the hero of the war. Parker’s face was still covered in blood. He landed his big right arm but any momentum was broken by Joyce throwing back two. The chins on display here are quite astonishing – the shots were thrown with real menace throughout. Joyce lands some in the body successfully, but his opponent simply refuses to give up. Too close to call.

Round 8

The corner couldn’t stop bleeding above Parker’s eye – 30 seconds later and his face was covered when he touched the cut. Joyce is confirming all of his motives stories – it’s the eighth story and he barely opens his mouth. Some great photos from Joyce. Parker tablets but do not have the same effect. Parker cringed and Joyce looked like she was going to finish here. Can he be the first to stop Joseph Parker?

Round 7

Parker put a man to land one here, it’s a dangerous game for a man like Joe Joyce. Both fighters are determined to win the bullets at this stage. Big shot from Joyce and Parker’s power seems to be waning a bit. Joyce had him on the line and made a good combo to take the wind from his opponent. Parker’s right eye is now red, his left is almost closed, and his defense is really starting to fall short. Got a lot from New Zealanders, but a big round for Joyce.

Round 6

Great combination from ‘The Juggernaut’ to start the round. He’s on the court much quicker than in the last round and Parker is feeling it, but his right hand is always ready to be thrown back. A much slower attempt from Parker – maybe a pause after some good previous work. Pace caught up in the second half with some good sneaks from Parker, but it’s hard to see past how fresh Joe Joyce still looks, and his shot is always impressive. Friday is Joyce.

Round 5

Parker was ready to make a trade-off. He’s fighting Joyce’s fight and, whatever happens, deserves credit. He hit low and was warned again. He’s happy to fight the ropes and let Joyce do the work. More power hits land again from Parker and Joyce looks like he’s slowed down a bit. Close either way depending on what the referee is looking for.

Round 4

Joyce started the fourth pitch that slowly broke Daniel Dubois. Parker is fighting with low hands and taking too much. He went low again, but neither Joyce nor the referee complained. Parker had more powerful shots but it was important that Joyce was handling them. An excellent right arm lands with 25 seconds to continue – a right arm capable of taking many people out of there. A slower round for both fighters but Parker won it.

Round 3

Andy Lee has been activated in the corner, hoping to get his fighter out with more momentum. Joyce caught up with him with an early big right that seemed to stagger Parker for a short time. Parker hit back hard, but Joyce was undaunted and began to look like Joseph Parker might be on fire. Joyce slowed down a bit towards the end to give her opponent some time to rest. Parker took it again. Parker made a big landing just above the bell, but Joyce went back to walking as usual. A relatively convincing round for Joyce.

Round 2

Joyce assisted Parker in the corner on a few occasions, forcing the New Zealanders to give up. More impressive attacks from the host boxer at the beginning of this round, but Parker always wanted to shoot back. The referee signaled that several of Parker’s shots were straying under the belt. Joyce seemed ready to turn 12, Parker was breathing a little and had some blood and bruises. Closing one will go Joyce’s way.

Round 1

An expected start opened up a bit as the round continued. Joyce moves forward – no surprises there. Parker’s speed advantage is noticeable, and he’s having some success with the body of ‘The Juggernaut.’ Close a call.

Amanda Serrano vs Sarah Mahfoud

Amanda Serrano’s introduction to British fighting fans is a dominating affair. Mahfoud, despite improving late in the game, never really looked at the chance. The judges’ cards read 99-92, 97-93 and 97-93. The Puerto Rican holds on to his unified featherweight title and moves forward, perhaps planning to seek a rematch with Ireland’s Katie Taylor.

Nathan Heaney – Jack Flatley

Nathan Heaney vs Jack Flatley was called up early after an early clash in round 5 caused a brutal cut in the Stoke boxer’s eye. The crowd heard the news with boos, however it was an easy decision for the ring doctor. As standard, any doctor’s stops after four rounds would count towards the judges’ scorecard, where Heaney won by unanimous decision, retaining the IBO International Middleweight belt. Flatley has shown some good work, and the final numbers probably don’t reflect his efforts. Regardless, ‘Hitman’ moves to 16-0.
