Oscar De La Hoya About Davis-Garcia: “Whoever throws the first punch wins the fight”

“I believe it can attract 2 million families,” Oscar De La Hoya said of the potential pay-per-view of the upcoming Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia match. “I believe it can break 2.4 million homes.” Indeed, there were comparisons of the April 22 serve to the 2007 super friendly between De La Hoya and the then-rising Floyd Mayweather. “I believe that Tank,” De La Hoya said, “is bigger than Mayweather when he fought me… these kids are the best and the fact that they’re fighting each other, it creates a complete storm. perfect.”
However, De La Hoya also points out (in a video recorded and published by battle center) that the larger match was only a scheduled twelve-inning match. He believes Davis-Garcia can lead the way to other top-flight matches. He said of the April 22 event: “We put these things together, we could make other things.” What makes Davis-Garcia unique in contemporary boxing is that it shows how two opposing advertising/management/consulting organizations can come together to create the ultimate match. De La Hoya said: “Doing this fight was not easy, but we did it.”
As for how he expects Davis-Garcia to end, De La Hoya has been incredibly clear. “It’s going to end in a knockout,” he said. “I don’t know who will win by knockout, but it will end in knockout. I think the power is too much in that round. There are two very strong people and they are very explosive. Whoever throws the first punch wins the fight.”
Both camps Davis and Ryan are currently on a two-city press tour – New York and Los Angeles. The New York press conference took place on Tuesday, while the second press conference will take place on Thursday afternoon on the west coast.
