Jeep and Ford have both previewed donut doors for their respective off-road vehicles over the past few years. While the Bronco won’t get them due to safety-related hurdles, a recent patent filing suggests there may still be hope for Wrangler owners who want an empty door. has a middle compartment.

Considering that the original patent was filed over three years ago, it’s not too far-fetched to assume that it could be related to the Switchback concept and not production limited doors.
Putting these doors into production sounds easier than it does. Ford be reported to decide top door donut supply Bronco more trouble than they deserve because they don’t comply with safety standards, so Jeeps can face similar problems with the Wrangler. However, both companies are working to give enthusiasts more door options.
