Jake Paul reveals pound for pound list and one big name absent
Jake Paul, one of the most controversial men in boxing today, has put together a list in which he names his top active fighters. Join it…
Most boxing fans have pounds for the pound list, or at least one pound for the number one pound. Boxers or boxers, regardless of weight class, who they consider to be the best on the planet. Jake Paul is no different, even though his top 10 is actually the top 13. List is as follows…
- Tyson Fury
- (Tear) Terrence Crawford and Errol Spence
- (Draw) Artur Beterbiev & Dmitry Bivol
- Oleksandr Usyk
- (Tie) Amanda Serrano & Katie Taylor
- Shakur Stevenson
- Devin Haney
- Jermell Charlo
- David Benavidez
- Naoya Inoue
Paul provided several reasons along with the names. For Tyson Fury, the best boxer in the world according to the young boxer, it was dominance that got him there.
“First and foremost, Tyson Fury has only dominated heavyweight for so long. He beat every KO/TKO heavyweight competitor including Usyk and there has never been a heavyweight competitor in the history of the sport who hasn’t been relegated in the end and Tyson Fury is still at the top and thinks that will retire at the top. However, what Usyk has done from cruiser to heavyweight is impressive and his dominance, versatility and boxing abilities are second to none.”
A notable absentee is Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez – who is on most fan, pundit and boxer lists. Paul seemed to know that the omission would raise the question, so he came up with an answer.
“Bivol dropped Canelo from the list not only for beating him at 175 but also for being ready to move up to 168. We all know it will be the exact same match at 168 beating Canelo off this list. and Canelo beat Benavidez and Charlo.”
‘The Problem Child’ has expressed interest in battling Canelo at one stage in his career. Maybe we should call him duck – something that we know Mexicans are not kind – is an attempt to establish that.
Finally, and to give Paul credit, he included two female warriors on his list. It was something he wanted to see more of. Many stores have separate, separate listings for girls’ games, but Paul might be right to merge them – after all, isn’t it pound for pound on all divisions without exception? On inclusion, he said:
“Go on, it annoys me that most pound lists don’t include Amanda or Katie. Like wtf. This is boxing, not just men’s boxing and both have more accolades than some of the names YALL put on your SH**TY list. “
Good point, well done.
