Tyron Woodley was stunned when he was told the final results for his first fight with Jake Paul four months before his boxing debut. The former UFC welterweight belt holder believes he did more than enough to get the win, however, he was forced to live with the decisive loss. While he was given the opportunity to redeem himself, the former UFC star simply failed to capitalize.
The animosity was evident from the start as both men appeared nervous as their contest got underway. However, neither of them had everything under control in the first few minutes.
Woodley stepped out slowly. He raised his hands high and crouched low. On the other hand, Paul appeared much more relaxed. He hit his backhand right into Woodley’s face and quickly followed it up with a right forehand. While those shots connected, Woodley handled them well. With just over a minute left in time, Woodley began to let go. He connects with his stunning left hand forcing Paul into temporary retreat mode.
When Woodley stepped out to start the second round, he continued to pick up his momentum. He repeatedly shoved Paul and forced him to hit his back leg. Paul showed a tired, annoyed look as Woodley continued to deliver the punishment.
In subsequent rounds, the action slows down to the point of crawling. In the process, both men began to wrestle and maneuver to gain an advantage in their positions. Even as Woodley made his men feel uneasy, Paul remained calm.
As round six passed, fans began to feel comfortable in their seats as they booed mercilessly for no action. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Paul landed with clean hands. The moment the blow landed, Woodley immediately fell into a motionless pile. While Chris Young initially started counting, he waved away from their contest when Woodley didn’t react on the canvas.
