Jaguar creates in-house Panthera electric vehicle platform

Jaguar Land Rover CEO Thierry Bollore is not trying to create Jaguar revolving, called “Reimagine,” is easy and inexpensive. What he seems to be most interested in is ensuring the turnaround produces a wide range of Jaguars tram exudes the history of Jaguar-ness that the brand is trusted but has been out of for a while. He told Autocar last year that future products must be “really modern luxury car it’s a replica of nothing in terms of style or design, the pinnacle of technology and refinement, but without looking back. “Since then, the brand has casting around for an existing electric platform created by another automaker or a supplier that they could apply to Jaguar for use, but nothing that met the standard. To replace, Autocar now report The British carmaker will create its own EV platform in-house. The company’s chief financial officer Adrian Mardell said in one investor’s account the platform was called “Panthera,” which is the scientific name for big cats that include jaguars, leopards, lions and tigers.

Bollore said, “In regards to the new Jaguar, we are prioritizing unique proportions. That’s why we’re doing it ourselves now. “Some have latched onto the phrase ‘at the moment’ to suggest that the Panthera scheme may be temporary. And while that may be the case – there have been plenty of temporary schemes across the industry over the past few days. past year – Jaguar is expected to launch the first EV in its new lineup in 2025, so the plan can’t just be temporary in the long term. now would be just enough time to create a new mechanical architecture on top of new engineering to service a new vehicle with an emphasis on “just”.

The Panthera platform makes sense, if Jaguar can pull it off. Bollore wants upcoming Jaguars to be reviewed alongside Bentley and Aston Martin, so he’ll need those unique proportions coupled with a great design to appeal to buyers who haven’t considered the brand in ages, if ever. The makeup of the refurbished model line is still murky. On the sedan side, people think CAR and XF could become a single midsize four-door. The return of a true flagship sedan is still unclear, but seems a good possibility considering the expected competition and as a difference with sister brand Land Rover. As if intersectE-Pace and F-Pace can make the conversion to the battery power and a new one J-Pace’s flagship crossover looks unlikely to, again, maintain space from Land Rover. The I-Pace, which is already electric but built by Magna Steyr on a modified version of JLR’s D7 platform, can be ported to the Panthera or abandoned. F-Pace, or some kind sport carwill bring Jaguar’s legacy into an electric future.

Or if Autocar Believe it or not, we overestimated, the British publication saying that the range could be just two electric crossovers and an electric sports car. That prospect, combined with Bentley-like pricing, if successful, would support Bollore’s goal of making more money selling fewer cars.

Jaguar Land Rover says it will invest £2.5 billion in transition to electric vehicles, getting good news later this year with UK government’s Export Finance division agreed to guarantee a loan of 500 million pounds purpose.
