Perodua sold 24,936 units in February 2023; Year-to-date sales increased by 33%, output increased at the same rate
Perodua sold 24,936 units in February 2023, bringing year-to-date sales for the first two months of the year to 46,385 units, 33% higher than in the same period last year. Perodua sales are limited to production, and that number has grown by the same amount – up 32.95% to 51,134 units year-over-year.
P2 attributes increasing sales to improving efficiency in terms of production, Better financial facility for dealers and better communication both within the ecosystem and with Perodua’s customers.
“While there are still ongoing challenges with our semiconductor chip supply, rising costs – among other issues, despite these challenges we have achieved double digit growth in production. production and sales, for this we thank our partners for their dedication,” said Perodua President and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
The P2 head added that demand for Perodua vehicles remains stable and Rawang is ramping up production to meet that demand.
“As a result, the average wait time since February 28 is now between 2.5 months and 8 months. Of course, this timeframe depends on the model, variant, and color. That being said, we apologize to our customers and thank them for their patience. We will try to further improve production and registration in the coming months,” he said.
Moving forward, Zainal said the outlook for the auto industry and Perodua is positive given the current economic situation remains stable.
“The focus right now is on stabilizing labor, especially for auto suppliers to ensure that production can be improved. We also hope that policymakers continue to interact with the ecosystem on future policy changes that may impact the industry,” he said.
