Michigan ‘Water-Winter Wonderland’ regains license plate
Michigan will carry the “Water-Winter Wonderland” plaque first introduced in 1965, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office announced Thursday. Benson’s office says the yellow-on-blue plate is a problem that is frequently asked for reissue and we can see why. Its classic typography and simple aesthetic will make it especially appealing to buyers looking for a true 1960s look.
Benson’s office says the disc will be eligible for personalization, but due to the classic typeface, options will be limited to just six characters instead of the usual seven. The disc will be available through all your usual channels (you can order one at home, if you like) and appear as one of the three standard plate options on the website of the Secretary of State. However, like the Mackinac Island Bridge plate, there is a $5 surcharge when ordering it in the standard blue-on-white color scheme.
That’s a small price to pay for a rather substantial aesthetic upgrade, if you ask us, especially considering our James Riswick rated the standard Michigan plate. the last in the country for visual appeal. Technically, this plate isn’t considered a “standard” option since you have to pay extra for it, but $5 seems like a reasonable premium for a simple and worthwhile upgrade. tell so.
