Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu hospitalized for pacemaker implantation: NPR

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said early Sunday that he was in the process of getting a pacemaker.
In a brief statement, Netanyahu’s office said the Israeli leader would be sedated. A top deputy, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, will replace him.

Netanyahu’s office made the announcement that Israel face widespread street protests on Netanyahu’s controversial judicial overhaul plan. The plan has sparked months of protests, with hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets on Saturday night to protest against it ahead of a key parliamentary vote on Monday.
Levin is the mastermind in the overhaul plan.
Netanyahu’s office said the prime minister would receive a pacemaker at Israel’s Sheba Hospital, where he was also treated last week.
It gave few other details but quoted Mr. Netanyahu as saying, “Efforts to reach a broad agreement are continuing.”
