Mohawk Trail, Loyalty Shines When Bets At Woodbine

Beschizza, who had won her previous start in the 6 1/2 Alywow Stakes, felt confident that the little girl could take on the longer distance and compete harder.

“I discussed it with Kelsey, and she said, ‘Should we stay where we are or do we pull her out for a bit?’ And the discussion is clearly a mile away.She is starting to mature a lot.She has a great will to win, which will work in her favor, so that’s half the battle with these horses.

“When she had a goal in front of her at the last 1/8 mile, she dug really deep. Like I said, she’s definitely growing up in the right direction. Good luck to Kelsey. She’s done her job well and congrats to NBS as well.”

With the win, the Mohawk Trail, bred in Florida by Westbury Stables, is now 4-1-1 in nine starts. She broke her maidenhood last December more than a mile across Gulfstream Park pitch.

Loyalty Impressive Winner by Hendrie Stakes

Loyalty put on another stellar performance, this time in the $150,000 Canadian Hendrie Stakes (G3) (G3), a 6.5-inch Tapeta sprint for mares and mares, ages 3 and up, at Woodbine.

Loyalty wins Hendrie Stakes at Woodbine

Trained by Josie Carroll for owner Gainesway Stable and LNJ Foxwoods, Loyalty’s 4-year-old daughter Spin hard made her second start of the year following a 3/4 win on June 25 to start her 2023 season.

The duo of monochord And Hard edge dueled for an early lead, as Loyalty positioned along the tracks in third place in the opening quarter achieved: 22.92. The forerunners continued their tussle while Kazushi Kimura, on the even-money pick, was content to watch the process unfold from the very beginning.

Around the intersection, Miss speed loomed a menacing presence outside, but Kimura and Loyalty stormed inside and took command shortly after the lengthy call.

At the rope, Loyalty was the 2 1/2 length winner in 1:15.61. Clitheroe came in second and Talk to Ya later put together the bestMiss speed by a head for the third.

Kimura praised, “I can say that she is the best in this field. “She’s pretty manoeuvrable. She can stick around and if there’s space she can take the lead. There’s a lot of options for me. She feels comfortable, it’s comfortable being behind the front runner. She was able to step out and find a hole and show me a great race. It was perfect.”

Bred in Florida by Best A Luck Farm and Godolphin, dark bay is now 6-0-1 after eight starts. Her victories include Lady Erie Stakes at Presque Isle Downs Last August and Duchess Stakes last October at Woodbine.

Loyalty, who debuted with consecutive wins in the spring of 2022, both at Woodbine, paid $4.30 for the win.
