But not all crab legs are created equal.

“Last year, there was a ban,” he told CNBC Make It. “And international markets are really on the hunt for the Alaskan red king crab. It’s the best crab out there.”
Dzelzkalns says that fishermen want to catch king crabs just before they molt so that the meat completely fills the shell. Alaska red crab season lasts only six weeks, from October to the second week of November. Alaska red king crab is caught in the Bering Sea.
