After a while of silence, Ashanti finally answered Irv Gotti spoke negatively about her in recent interviews, and she still keeps it cute!
The CEO of Murda Inc. signed the “Happy” singer to his label in the early 2000s, where the singing bird took to the charts with several solo hits. Irv recently ran the press for a documentary about his reign and the fall of his business, all while sharing details about his alleged relationship with the singer.
Ashanti seems to call Irv Gotti a narcissist
While chatting with the New York radio legend Angie Martinez In an interview published this week, Ashanti gave her views on how Irv shared his feelings with her to several media outlets.
It’s unfortunate in the way Irv decided to handle his documentary. A little bit sad […]I feel like the way he handled it tarnished and detracted from the brand.
He appeals to her allegiance for allegedly abandoning him when she was in legal trouble. The report was untrue, she said, as there were photographs to prove she was in court with him. She added that she thinks Irv is intentionally hurting her because of his mental state and seems to have called him a narcissist.
I feel like Irv is not in good shape mentally. You see people with narcissistic ways… and as a grown woman, there’s a difference between how women get hurt and men get hurt and how we deal with that hurt.

In regards to addressing the intimate details of her relationship with Irv Gotti, Ashanti seems to think he is exaggerating that in her response. She even went as far as to say that he “flatly lied.”
I think sometimes[…]you can think it’s something and other people know it’s not and you turn this into something big and it really isn’t[…]and then the person realizes that it’s not, it turns them into a completely different person.

Irv lied frankly about a lot of things. Sex is a dangerous thing. For a long time, I had no desire to expose certain things. I am happy, me. in another space.

I wrote “Happy” in the parking lot of the CW Postal College. I’m actually on my way to see The’s Nutcracker with my aunt and cousin and my Mazda 626. And I wrote “Happiness” in the parking lot at night waiting for me to think my cousin or someone showed up. Followed the pace and Irv and Chink caught on.
You know what my cousin calls that? Damned.
The singer said she was “in love” with Gotti over his negative behavior
Many critics of Irv find the Hip Hop mogul’s pointless pillow talk about Ashanti unforgivable, but she thinks it’s just because he’s been “hurt” and mentally unwell since when throwing mud at her name in interviews.
In my heart, I felt Irv was hurt. And he doesn’t know where to put his vulnerability. And he doesn’t know how to control it like a man. And it’s sad. And this whole personality he’s wearing[…]From what I know, Irv comes from a beautiful family. This whole tough gangster he’s portraying isn’t [real].
Angie also asked directly about Irv painting a picture of them having a “big love” when she signed with the agency. Ashanti did not directly confirm there was a relationship but admitted that Irv profited from her financially while she was “in love” with him.
I definitely have a true love for Irv because he helped me change my life 100%. You know, we had the best times just writing records, touring, making history. Like, there’s chemistry with somebody to write these records, and you know it’s a woman in Hip-hop and R&B, like it’s a perfect fit.
But don’t get me wrong… he made a lot of money.
