‘I’m a cheater!’: Cam Newton scores in first game of Panthers comeback, flagged for taunt
The following statement was made today by Cam Newton in response to questions about his future career plans:
“I have returned.”
Now, Newton not better Michael Jordan, but on Sunday he reminded the world that he’s, in fact, back in the NFL and has scored for the Panthers.
Early in the Panthers-Cardinals game in Arizona, Newton entered the game in a goal pack, and then scored his first TD for Carolina since he was last on the team in 2019.

Newton, who had dropped his helmet as planned, was slapped with a mock penalty 15 yards later.
Newton failed to pull it off, however: Soon after, he would have another chance to score another point on the line, this time tossing a pass for Robby Anderson to score six goals:

Photographing the first regular season of the 2021 season on Sunday, Newton was signed by the Panthers in mid-November to replace injured Sam Darnold, who was sidelined with a broken shoulder. Darnold has struggled with the Panthers this season after a hot start, leading the league with 11 interceptions in Week 10.

The former QB MVP was brilliantly released by the Patriots before the 2021 season kicked off. Newton spent a year away from the Panthers, playing with the Patriots in all of 2020. Bill Belichick and the Pats have moved on to first choice 2021 Mac Jones, who has had an admirable performance so far this season.
During his previous stint with the Panthers, Newton was responsible for a total of 240 ground hits and dives. On Sunday, it appeared Newton threatened to add even more to that total.
