If you haven’t entered this year’s IMSA race, you’re failing!

Last weekend, in a tradition that is becoming a Carroll family tradition, we drove ten hours to participate Peter Hughes at Watkins Glen for an IMSA race. We camped in the fields, survived the flood, rummaged around the grasslands, found some Friend and wander among the racing cars. That’s about as much fun as I’ve had all year. None of them required me to show a special access journalist card. You can have just as much fun as I do, pretty much.

I know people have fond memories of IMSA in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and maybe 90’s. But I’m sure motorsport in America is better than ever. This – right now – is its heyday. you have seen Cadillac made What does the bump start? Please, I beg you. Don’t miss this. Regardless of your age, you will die much sooner than you think. This IMSA era will probably die out sooner than that. It’s called ‘lightning in a bottle’ for a reason. If possible, join the IMSA race.

Some of you have already done it. Daytona has seen a record number of Rolex audiences this year, and television viewership has increased. Laguna Seca reported its biggest-ever ticket sales growth year over year. Bai Dai is sold out. Watkins Glen was packed with campers and spectators throughout the weekend. The grid is the largest since 1984, comprising 57 cars, many of which stem from one of LeMans’ best-ever 24 Hours runs.

The weekend’s worth of access will cost you about a hundred dollars and less if you just want to get into the real race. Lots of tracks allow you to camp, which makes a weekend getaway cheaper and a lot simpler from a logistical standpoint. Camping also gives you better access to the paddock when the daytime crowds leave and can be more fun for those of you who are less concerned with the whole, car racing tracks. In general, the cost of the weekend will be comparable to the cost of parking near the F1 track during a race weekend.

There are six races left on this year’s schedule. Grab your tickets, fill up with coolant, dig up your tent and watch some of the best races people have ever seen.
