Sun Country adds 2 new routes, extending the schedule to April 2025

Sun Country is betting that winter-weary flyers from the Upper Midwest will be ready for a warm-weather vacation in early 2025.

This week, the Minneapolis-based carrier announced its latest schedule expansion, including two new routes to the Caribbean. Specifically, Sun Country will connect Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) with Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic and Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The Punta Cana route begins on December 26, 2024 with twice-weekly service, while the Montego Bay route begins on January 25, 2025 with twice weekly flights.

Additionally, the airline will continue service from MKE to Mexico’s Cancun International Airport (CUN), a route it last operated last winter, until April 2024, Cirium’s schedule shows.

In total, Sun Country will operate eight routes from Milwaukee. This includes the aforementioned international service — the largest of any Milwaukee carrier — along with routes to Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Fort Myers, Florida.

Sun Country focuses solely on serving leisure passengers who are on vacation and visiting family and friends. “Sun Country is continuing to grow our schedule from MSP to the warmest destinations our customers love the most. These are the places our customers love to visit with multi-day flights week throughout the season. We are building on what works well for us and our travelers,” said Grant Whitney, senior vice president and chief revenue officer at Sun Country. in a statement.

Additionally, although Sun Country has previously operated as a low-cost airline, the airline launched a new mobile app just this week. The app is designed to enhance airlines’ digital capabilities and make it easier for travelers to book travel and self-serve their reservations.
