Hyundai Malaysia unveils 3 new models for 2023 – All-new Tucson, Santa Fe facelift, Ioniq 6 EV coming soon


Now here is a surprise. Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) launched the new Creta SUV this morning and now they have released a teaser on social media. The image, titled ‘2023, we’re coming’, shows today’s star car and Upgrade Palisade along with three blacked out models.

Which three new Hyundais will come to Malaysia this year? Our prediction is completely new Fourth-generation Tucson SUVSanta Fe facelift and Ioniq 6 EV.

Tucson is the C-segment SUV rival of Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5. The latest generation sports super sharp sheet metal and two wheelbase options – we should choose the longer of the two, which is follow our roads earlier this month.

The Santa Fe in question is a heavily upgraded fourth-generation TM, first launched in June 2020. It has a very different look with its full-width grille and running lights. Special T-shaped LED daytime running lights split the main beams in half. What are you looking at Indonesia is here.

As for the Ioniq 6, it is a very curvy sister compared to the 5 blocky Ioniq. The ‘streamlined person’ with a nearly 3m wheelbase packs a 77.4 kWh battery for a claimed WLTP range of 610 km. Hyundai says the super-slick Ioniq 6 (Cd 0.21) is one of the most energy-efficient electric vehicles available today with an energy consumption of 13.9 kWh/100 km.
