How to Use Fujifilm Pixel Shift Multi-Shot Works
If you’re familiar with my photography (at least one of you must be!) then you’ll know I often create clock-stacked, depth-of-focus macro shots for brands. It was a great way to get a high-resolution image of a subject that required me to get too close to focus from front to back. Another method that I occasionally use, although only under exceptionally high conditions, is to use the Multi-shot function that some cameras have. Fujifilm’s Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode is the one I’ve used on the watch, interestingly enough, and for further coincidence, this video shows the difference between the raw file and the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot DNG on pocket watch.
Very large resolution, often twice the native resolution of the sensor. This provides greater detail — important for photos of small, complex subjects — and maintains the depth of focus afforded by distance from the subject. Furthermore, because of the way Pixel Shift collects color information, colors are often more accurate.
Here’s a great video for those wondering how it works and why you might use it!
