How to use exposure compensation for better images

Camera sensors have become incredibly capable in recent years, being able to capture scenes with a wide dynamic range that older models couldn’t handle. However, there are still situations that are beyond the capabilities of even the best sensors. So what do you do in those situations? Exposure bracketing is an effective technique, and this helpful video tutorial will show you how to use it to improve your images.

Coming to you from Mike Browne, this great video tutorial will show you how to use exposure compensation for better images. Even with camera sensors that can typically capture 15 stops of dynamic range, there are scenes where that limit can be exceeded. This is where exposure compensation comes in handy. The essentials of this technique are pretty simple: you take multiple photos at different exposures to capture the entire scene from the darkest to the brightest. You then merge the individual photos into a final image in the post. This is a simple yet powerful technique, especially for landscape photos. Check out the video above for the full recap from Browne.
