How to use color to make your photos stand out
Color is one of the most powerful tools photographers have at their disposal, but it often doesn’t get the attention it deserves. If you want to expand your creative palette and help your photos stand out, check out this helpful video tutorial that discusses the many different color schemes you can use to create more powerful images. .
Coming to you from Julia Trotti, this great video tutorial discusses the many different color schemes you can use to create more balanced and eye-catching photos, including techniques like complementary colors, triple dithering, etc. While these may seem a bit contrived or arbitrary, as you learn them, you will begin to notice them in a lot of creative work. For example, many directors (such as Wes Anderson) intentionally use such color schemes to create a more dramatic experience for their audience. A great exercise is to find a particularly remarkable frame from a movie you love, decipher the color scheme and/or scheme being used, and try to recreate it in your own work. This not only improves your eyes but is also very fun! Check out the video above for the full recap from Trotti.
