You can have shortcuts or on-screen buttons, or both, so choose whichever option you find most comfortable to use. if you press Another choice next to the accessibility button checkbox, you can customize how the button appears on the screen, with settings for the button’s size and transparency.
Reading mode can also be launched from Quick Settings: Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to view. Tap the pen icon and you’ll see that a Reading mode available tiles, which can be dragged into the Quick Settings panel.
How to start using Reading Mode
You can launch reading mode whenever you want, anywhere in Android—just tap the Quick Settings button or tile, or use the volume shortcut. If reading mode can’t process what’s on the screen, you’ll see a message saying that.
Reading mode works best when you’re viewing web pages with text on them, not games or photos. A new overlay will pop up on your screen, and at the top, you’ll see an estimate of how long it will take you to finish the current article—just start scrolling down to read it.
If the text and colors are not to your liking, you can change them. Tap the text button (two Ts) in the lower right corner and you can quickly increase or decrease the size of the text on the screen. Tap the cog button in the lower left corner for more options, including the size, style, alignment, and color of the text.
Tap the Play button below the text to read it aloud to you. Navigation arrows appear: Tap them to skip a sentence, or touch and hold them to skip a paragraph. You’ll also see other icons appear, allowing you to change the reading speed (the spin button on the right) and other options like the voiceover (the cog icon on the left).
When you’re done with reading mode, swipe down the arrow from the top of the screen and you’ll be back to normal Android. There aren’t too many advanced features, but it is already a very useful utility when available.
