How to find and cancel unused subscriptions with Rocket Money

I spent about 30 minutes using an app to cancel a bunch of subscriptions that I no longer use. I will save about $1,235 this year.

If you’re like me, you can sign up for multiple subscriptions with different credit cards and then forget to cancel them when you’re no longer using them.

I’ve used Rocket Money App to see all my subscriptions. It allows me to cancel the ones I don’t need without opening a bunch of other apps or websites and trying to unsubscribe.

I canceled my subscription to Hello Fresh meal prep service, saving me $980 for the year immediately. I also unsubscribed from a $180 workout app and cut my $75 Instacart membership. Rocket Money can also help you discover and cancel subscriptions to streaming services you no longer use or other recurring bills you’ve long forgotten.

The app offers new users a 7-day free trial, enough time for you to cancel your subscription, but otherwise it costs $3 to $12 per month, billed annually, depending into your needs. There are other Rocket Money features, such as budget tracking and savings tools, that can cost you a well-deserved monthly fee. I just need it to aggregate all my subscriptions into one place so I can cancel the ones I haven’t used.

Here’s what I did.

How to find and cancel unwanted subscriptions

It’s easy to create an account and navigate Rocket Money as long as you remember the passwords for your multiple accounts. Here’s what to do:

  • Sign up for one rocket money online account. You can also download apps for Iphone or Android.
  • Link your checking, savings and credit card accounts. Sometimes this will require two-factor authentication, which means you’ll receive an email or text message with a code to help you log into your bank account or credit card so you can link it to your account. Rocket Money.
  • You will see your recent transactions once your account is linked. Recurring charges appear as a small arrow-like icon that moves around the circumference of a circle on the site. On the app, you’ll see a tab for recurring charges at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click on the subscription you want to cancel.
  • When you see the subscription deal, tap the drop-down menu button in the upper right corner of the website. If you’re using the Rockey Money app, tap the three-dot icon next to the charge.
  • Select “Cancel this for me.”
  • Enter your username and password and give Rocket Money access to the account.
  • Repeat that to cancel other subscriptions.
  • Rocket Money said it couldn’t cancel one of my subscriptions but it gave me the information I needed to cancel the service, including the website’s cancellation link, customer service phone number and email address company support.

Pro Tip: If you’re having trouble remembering all your accounts, visit dailycreditreport.com To get your free credit report, it will include all your open accounts. Every year, you can download a free copy of your annual credit report without credit score. This will allow you to see some random credit accounts you might have opened and forget you might want to link to Rocket Money.
