How to add atmosphere to photos in Lightroom

In the past, you typically used Lightroom to organize and adjust lighting and Photoshop for heavier editing. However, in recent years, Lightroom has made some notable strides, and you can now make major edits without leaving the program. This great video tutorial will show you how to use some of Lightroom’s tools to add atmosphere to an image.

Coming to you from Anthony MorgantiThis awesome video tutorial will show you how to add atmosphere to your images using Lightroom. One of my favorite tools for enhancing images is the radial filter tool, which I use as a more customizable blur tool, especially since it can be defined anywhere you want in the frame. By reducing the exposure by just 0.3 or 0.4 stops and using a generous layer of feathers, you can draw attention to your subject in an almost imperceptible way. Combine it with Lightroom’s impressive new masking tools, especially the intersection and selective theme tools, and you have some powerful options at your disposal. Like any retouching technique, however, it’s generally better to do a more subtle adjustment to avoid anything too artificial. Check out the video above for a complete summary of Morganti.
