Timeless. That is our goal when we make decisions for ice cream kitchen Renovations. We chose a French Lacanche range as a focal point, and we put the other elements in place.
With each decision we make, we try to envision a space that won’t belong to any decade.
Our word brass faucet without layerfor ours washbasin in the farm, Danby marble countertops, beadboard backsplash and shaker style cabinets… We wanted to create a simple, timeless look. I definitely hope we hit that goal!
One of the most important ways we capture that timeless look is by using our kitchen cabinet hardware.
While we have shared our picks for copper hardware without layers In the past, one of the most frequently asked questions I received was about our equipment pull bars. Let’s learn a little more about them, shall we?
What is Household Scissors?
The appliance handle is a heavier type of kitchen cabinet handle commonly used on appliances covered with wood paneling. Refrigerators and dishwashers are the two most common places to install them!
They allow you to match the appliance door with the rest of your kitchen hardware with ease. Table-ready appliances help integrate your entire kitchen by creating a cohesive look of beautiful wood cabinets.
However, the traditional smaller buttons and traction won’t work on these larger pieces! That’s where the device pulls in.
In fact, they can also make an amazing statement on tall pantry doors or larger storage drawers. From 12″ to 24″ long, they can be as sleek or as ornate as you like.
Advice
- Just because it’s not labeled as a device puller, doesn’t mean it can’t work like one! In our lakeside cottage, we used the traditional way of pulling cups on the dishwasher. And in the kitchen in St. Louis, we used a traditional large drawer.
- However, these drawbars will attach to the ¾” thick wooden cabinet panels that are glued to your unit, rather than the unit itself. If you purchased a pull rod that is not intended for the device, you will need longer screws (joints) for mounting.
- It doesn’t have to be an exact match, to coordinate. In fact, I suppose switching things will generate interest!

frequently asked Questions
As a general rule, the pull should not exceed 1/3 of the length of the cabinet door, or the width of the drawer. However, the rules are meant to be broken!
The styles certainly don’t have to match, but it’s a good idea to keep everything together with a single coat of paint finish in your kitchen.
Usually, the only difference is the size of the screws for installation! Traditional scissors come with shorter screws for attachment to thin furniture or cabinet doors.
Device handles come with longer, often thicker screws. Not only do the devices require a little more force to open, but they’re also covered in a slightly thicker front panel.
It may not be officially recommended, but it works great in our kitchen. Just make sure you have the correct screw length and size!
