House of the Dragon: Who We Blame the Targaryen Civil War

Warning: this post contains Dragon’s House episode eight spoilers.

King Viserys only Royal squirm.

In the October 9 episode of Dragon’s HousePrincess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) final created after years of discord. Not only does Alicent acknowledge Rhaenyra as the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, but old friends seem ready to spend some real time together.

Unfortunately, this peaceful moment was derailed after a confession in Viserys’ hospital bed (Paddy Considine), when he told his wife about the “promised prince” prophecy. “You want to know, if I believe that’s true,” Viserys said confusedly as Alicent comforted him. “Don’t you remember? Aegon. His dream, the song of ice and fire.”

As he continued, Viserys said what Aegon (his ancestor, not his son to Alicent) saw in the North was true. “The prince to unify the kingdom against the cold and the dark,” he explained. “That is friend, you are the one. You have to do this.”

This message from the dying Viserys seems to have inspired Alicent to return to her mission of bringing her son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) on the throne before Rhaenyra, when she said to her husband, “I understand, my king.”
