A new power couple has appeared in Westeros.
That’s right, in the October 2 episode of Dragon’s House, Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Daemon (Carpenter) stop their emotional struggle with each other and final were together. This isn’t just an illegal connection, however, as Rhaenyra and Daemon are married at the end of the episode.
So, how exactly did the princess and her uncle – yes, you read that correctly – find themselves in this entanglement? The episode begins with the Targaryens and Velaryons reunited at the Driftmark for Lady Laena’s funeral (Nanna Blondell), Daemon’s late wife.
As tensions remained high between Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Rhaenyra, the heir apparent confided in her uncle that questions about her child’s legitimacy left her vulnerable. She confirmed that her marriage to Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) is for display purposes only.
“We were trying to get pregnant with a child,” she told Daemon. “We performed our duty as best we could, but to no avail. There was no joy in that. I found that elsewhere.”
The duo proceeded to make love on the beach, confirming that Rhaenyra and Daemon couldn’t be apart. Their happy moment in the sand is derailed after Aemond, Rhaenyra’s younger brother (Leo Ashton) captured Vhagar, Laena’s late dragon. This caused a brutal fight between the young prince and his cousin, resulting in Aemond losing an eye.
