It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Horizon Forbidden West launched. On February 18, 2022, Guerrillas eagerly await at their workstations as the game begins its global community launch.
Describing the feel of a game’s launch day is challenging, although any developer in our industry will understand the mix of excitement, suspense and anticipation as we begin to see your reaction. We spend most of our day updating social media, checking stats, and reading through initial feedback — while sharing moments with the team, of course, enjoying the achievements and results. The incredible fruit of more than four years of work is now out in the world.
To build on this excitement, Horizon Forbidden West also participates PlayStation Plus game catalog starting February 21, 2023.
Last year, it wasn’t just the launch of Horizon Forbidden West; We also released a LEGO High Neck into the wilderness, create a dedicated TikTok channeland dropped a lot of new goods, like OST vinyl and a collection with ASOS. We were even able to meet some of our fans in person at Twitchcon and gamescom!
It’s heartwarming to see the impact Aloy and her story have had on you, and we’re so grateful for the way our community has shown love and joy for our franchise. One of my personal joys is scrolling through hashtags #BeyondTheHorizon and viewing breathtaking Photo Mode photos from the virtual photography community; did you know you all spent a total of 211,000 hours in Photo Mode?
To thank you for a year of passion, support, and excitement with Horizon Forbidden West, we’d like to give you a small gift of gratitude in the form of a new PlayStation avatar, which will be available to download from the PlayStation Store on Tomorrow.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for embracing Aloy and her next story in Horizon Forbidden West. We’re currently looking forward to our Burning Shores expansion, coming to PS5 on April 19, which sees Aloy pursue a sinister threat in the deadly volcanic ruins of Los Angeles. And if you want to experience the world of Horizon from a completely different perspective, Horizon Call of the Mountain launches next week on PSVR2.
