Honda USA launches CRF-E2 electric bike for children
Honda USA is bringing an electric kids bike to market, but it’s not quite what you think. The CRF-E2 is actually designed and built by Greenger Powersportsin turn licensed the symbol “CRF” from Honda USA.
While not a Japanese factory vehicle, the CRF-E2 (note that there’s no “Honda” in that title) will be sold through Honda dealers in the United States.
With 3.4hp (2.5 kW) of peak power, two hours of ride time and 2.5 hours of charging time with an optional fast charger, the CRF-E2 is geared towards young riders like a The first step for a road trip. MSRP is set at $2,950 in the US.
On the technical side of things, the CRF-E2 uses a 48-volt system, with a brushless DC motor generating 18.4 lbs • ft of torque.
The lithium-ion battery stores 960 Wh of energy, weighs just 13 lbs, and can be exchanged in seconds for a new pack (an optional accessory).
The whole bike weighs in at 106 lbs, and features a dual aluminum frame, front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, 12-inch wheels with Kenda Millville K771 tires.
Suspension components are 33 mm telescopic forks and DNM shock absorbers, preload adjustable and regenerative shock absorbers. The travel of the front and rear wheels is 3.9 inches and 8.3 inches, respectively.
With two power levels, the CRF-E2 is designed to be the best approach for a full-size mountain bike and competes with more powerful but more expensive bikes, Husqvarna EE 5.
